More About Eleazar’s Story
Eleazar’s Story with General Concepts of Limitation Philosophy
Eleazar’s Story is a philosophical conversation featuring Socrates, Alcibiades, and Eleazar.
The conversation takes place at the home of Pericles approximately 435 bc. Eleazar is a fictional character. He is a direct descendant of Aaron brother of Moses. He was born into the Judean Zadokite Priesthood (pre-Maccabeean temple priests. His Father and Uncles all minister in the temple built to replace Solomon’s Temple after the return from exile in Babylon.
As a young man Eleazar was about to be consecrated after intense study under Ezra the Scribe, but his secret faith was revealed. So, he self-exiled. First to Sidon where he was recruited into the Athenian Navy by Kimon the Athenian. Later he befriended the scientist/philosopher Anaxagoras and accompanied him to Athens. Pericles brought him into his personal guard in part to disguise his Judean heritage. (Athenian Priesthoods not monotheist friendly)
His personal faith began when as a student of Ezra he took Judean monotheism to its logical conclusions. (Yes, monotheism does have logical conclusions) Then he and Anaxagoras worked out the larger cosmology of Limitation Philosophy from there.
There is a General Concepts section that is a sketch of Limitation Philosophy. This provides a non-fiction perspective on the philosophy of the Anaxagoras Pen books. Important terms are defined, possible misconceptions explained and some commentary on The Logic of Limitless from the author’s perspective.
A Great Book for anyone interested in Limitation Philosophy
